Kitchen fitting across Middlesbrough
A kitchen is the most trade-heavy room in the house. Joinery, plumbing, electrics, gas, tiling and decoration all meet in one small space, usually in that order and usually on a deadline. Teesside Premium fits kitchens across Middlesbrough with all of those trades in-house, coordinated by one person, on one fixed written quote. We are based in TS3, so site visits and snag calls do not wait for someone to travel from the other side of the region.
The reason that matters is sequencing. A kitchen does not fail because one trade is bad, it fails because the electrician came a day before the units were ready, or the worktop templater arrived to find the base units still in boxes. One firm means one schedule and one person whose problem the sequence is.
The short version
- All trades in-house, including Gas Safe engineers for the hob and our own electricians for the first fix.
- Supply and fit, or fit-only. Most of our Middlesbrough work is fitting kitchens bought from the big suppliers.
- We check your delivery against the plan before strip-out day. This is where most fitted-kitchen disasters are prevented.
- Day-by-day schedule with the quote, and a message the day before we start.
- Strip-out and disposal included, under our own waste licence.
The sequence, and where the time goes
| Stage | What happens | What can stall it |
|---|---|---|
| Survey and measure | Measured on site, not from the supplier's plan | Nothing, and skipping it stalls everything later |
| Delivery check | Every item checked against the plan before strip-out | A short or damaged delivery, found now rather than mid-fit |
| Strip-out | Old kitchen out, waste removed under our licence | Discovering what the old units were hiding |
| First fix | Plumbing and electrics moved for the new layout | Moving the soil or gas run, which is the expensive change |
| Base units | Levelled and set to the actual walls | Walls that are out of square, which is most older houses |
| Worktop | Templated to the installed units, then fitted | Stone templating adds a wait of several days. Laminate does not |
| Tiling and second fix | Splashbacks, appliances, sockets, taps, hob | A missing appliance part |
| Decoration and clean | Walls, ceiling, making good | Nothing, if the trades before it did their part |
Fitting kitchens in Middlesbrough homes
House style shapes the job more than budget does.
Linthorpe's Victorian terraces. The challenge is usually squeezing modern appliances into a galley footprint, in a room whose walls were never square and have moved since. Scribing and patience matter more here than anything in a brochure, and a fitter who relies on the units being square to the wall will leave you with gaps at every junction.
Acklam's and Longlands' 1930s semis. These often want the classic side-return or through-lounge knock-through to open the kitchen into the dining room, which brings our building team in for the structural opening. Worth deciding before the kitchen is ordered, because the layout that suits a closed galley is not the layout that suits an open-plan room.
Coulby Newham, Hemlington and the newer estates. First-generation fitted kitchens reaching replacement age, where the shell and the services are fine and a well-fitted mid-range kitchen transforms the house for sensible money. These are usually the most predictable jobs we quote, because nothing structural has to change.
How we run the job
We survey and measure before quoting, check your kitchen delivery against the plan, then run the sequence: strip-out, first-fix plumbing and electrics, units, worktops, appliances, tiling, decoration, clean-up.
You get a day-by-day schedule with the quote and a message the day before we start. Gas hobs are connected by our Gas Safe engineers and certified. Anything found behind the old units, and old kitchens hide a lot, comes to you as a written variation with a price before it is done.
Worktops, tiling and the finishing that shows
Laminate, solid wood or stone. We fit all three and will be straight with you about the trade-offs at each price rather than steering you up the range.
The finishing is where a fitted kitchen earns its keep: consistent margins between doors, sealed junctions where water will get in, and splashback tiling cut cleanly around sockets rather than filled around them. Tiling is the trade this business was built on, which shows most in the two places people actually look at every day, the splashback and the join between worktop and wall.
When we are the wrong choice
- If your kitchen has not been delivered yet and you want a firm start date, we will give you a provisional one and not a promise. Booking trades around a delivery that has not arrived is how a job ends up half-fitted around a family's Christmas.
- If you want the cheapest fitting price in Middlesbrough, we will not be it. Our number includes the electrician, the Gas Safe connection and the making good. Cheaper fit-only quotes frequently exclude all three, and you find out when the hob cannot be connected.
- If you only need one appliance swapped or one unit door replaced, an independent joiner will be quicker to book and cheaper for you.
- If the layout you have chosen will not work, we will say so at survey rather than fit it. Occasionally people would rather we did not.
Getting a fitting price
Send us your plan through our contact page and we will give you a fixed fitting price to set against your kitchen budget. If the room needs opening up first, or the wiring is due anyway, it is much cheaper to find that out now than after the units are in.
Frequently asked questions
Do you fit kitchens bought elsewhere?
Yes. Most of our Middlesbrough kitchen work is fit-only for kitchens bought from the big suppliers. We check the delivery against the plan before strip-out day, which is where most fitted-kitchen horror stories are avoided.
How long does a kitchen installation take?
A typical kitchen takes five to ten working days depending on size, whether services move, and worktop choice. Stone templating adds a few days' wait between base units and tops. You get a day-by-day plan with the quote.
Can you move the sink, hob or washing machine?
Yes. Because our own plumbers and electricians do the first fix, moving services is priced clearly in the quote rather than becoming a mid-job surprise.
Do you do the tiling and decorating too?
Tiling is our signature trade, and our decorators finish walls and ceilings after the fit, so the room is genuinely done when we leave, not "done except…".
Will I be without a kitchen the whole time?
Effectively yes for the working days of the fit, which is why people set up a kettle and microwave elsewhere before we start. We reconnect the sink as early in the sequence as the plumbing allows, because running water back is what makes the week bearable.
Why does a stone worktop take longer?
Stone and composite tops are templated after the base units are in, not before, because they are cut to the units as actually installed rather than to the plan. That template-to-fit gap is normally several days, and during it you have base units and no worktop. Laminate has no such wait.
What goes wrong most often on a kitchen fit?
A short or damaged delivery. Kitchens arrive as dozens of separately picked items, and a missing cornice or a damaged door found on fitting day can stall the job for as long as the replacement takes to arrive. That is why we check the delivery against the plan before strip-out rather than on the day we need each part.
Do you take the old kitchen away?
Yes. Strip-out and disposal are in the quote and waste goes out under our own licence, so you do not need to arrange a skip or a permit for one on the street.
