Kitchen Fitters in Hartlepool
Kitchen fitting across Hartlepool with joinery, plumbing, electrics, gas and tiling in one team, on one fixed written quote.
Kitchen fitters covering Hartlepool: joinery, plumbing, electrics, gas and tiling in one team on one fixed written quote. Moving the sink, cooker or gas point is the main cost driver; keeping them is the main saving. Stone and composite worktops are templated only after the units are in, which puts a real gap mid-job. Supply and fit, or fit-only.
Kitchen fitting across Hartlepool
Teesside Premium works as kitchen fitters across the whole of Hartlepool, from the Headland and Seaton Carew through Foggy Furze and West Park to the Fens and Bishop Cuthbert estates.
A kitchen looks like a joinery job and is not. It is joinery, plumbing, electrics, frequently gas, and then tiling and making good, and the difference between a good kitchen project and a bad one is almost never the standard of any single trade. It is what happens at the handovers. When those are four separate bookings, the gaps between them are where the delays and the blame live.
Our own team covers all of it, on one fixed written quote and one schedule. Where a trade genuinely must be separate, we say so rather than pretending otherwise.
The short version
- One team, one fixed written quote covering joinery, plumbing, electrics, gas and tiling.
- Moving the sink, cooker or gas point is the main cost driver. Keeping them is the main saving.
- The worktop gap is real on stone and composite. It is in the schedule, not a surprise.
- Gas connections are Gas Safe work and notifiable electrics need certifying. That is law, not preference.
- Fit-only is fine, but let us see the plan and the delivery before the start date.
- Hard water shortens appliance life. Worth knowing when specifying a boiling-water tap.
The sequence, and where the time goes
| Stage | What happens | What moves the price |
|---|---|---|
| Strip-out | Old kitchen removed and taken away | Whether the walls or floor behind need work |
| First fix | Plumbing, gas and electrical routes set for the new layout | How far the sink, cooker and appliances move |
| Preparation | Walls made good, floor levelled, any plastering | Condition once the old units are off |
| Units | Base and wall units fitted, levelled and scribed | Number of units, and how true the walls and floor are |
| Worktop | Templated, fabricated, fitted and jointed | Material, number of joints, cut-outs |
| Second fix | Sink, taps, appliances, gas connection, electrics tested and certified | Appliance complexity and whether circuits are new |
| Finishing | Tiling or splashbacks, sealing, making good, decoration | Tiled area and format |
The gap people do not expect is between units and worktop. Stone and composite worktops are templated once the units are physically in place, then fabricated off site, then fitted. That is genuinely a wait, and it is why laminate kitchens finish faster. We put it in the schedule so you can plan around a week with no worktop rather than finding out mid-job.
Fitting kitchens in Hartlepool homes
The Headland and the older terraces. Solid walls, floors that are rarely level, and rooms that are rarely square. Neither is a problem, but both are time: units have to be scribed and packed to fit rather than simply pushed against a wall, and anyone quoting these rooms as if they were new-build is going to be either late or careless. Service routes also need planning, because solid walls do not take chasing the way modern construction does.
Foggy Furze. Kitchens frequently built into rear extensions or former yards, where the constraint is drainage and the position of the existing waste run. Moving a sink to the other side of a room in a house like this can be simple or can mean lifting a floor, and which one it is should be established before the plan is drawn, not after.
West Park. Larger houses with room for genuine layout changes, islands and utility rooms. This is where the multi-trade structure matters most, because these projects almost always move gas, water and electrics at once.
Fens, Bishop Cuthbert and the later estates. Modern housing where walls are true, layouts are conventional and the fitting is predictable. Straightforward work, and where keeping the existing service positions genuinely does keep the cost down.
Seaton Carew holiday lets. Kitchens that take heavy, careless use in short bursts. Specification should follow: robust worktops and doors matter more than delicate finishes, and it is worth spending on the things guests will treat badly rather than on the things they will not notice.
Buying from a retailer, or from us
Showrooms and planning services are genuinely useful, and a retailer package can be good value for a conventional kitchen. We would rather say that than pretend every alternative is worse.
Where we differ is structure. In a retailer package the fitting is usually subcontracted, and the plumbing, gas and electrical work may or may not be included in what you were quoted. That is the question worth asking, because it is the most common way a kitchen budget turns out to be incomplete. We quote everything the kitchen needs in one number.
We also fit kitchens bought elsewhere. The one ask is to see the plan and the delivery before the start date, because appliance clearances and missing end panels are what hold up otherwise-fine jobs.
When we are the wrong choice
- If it is a straight swap with no service moves, a good joiner is cheaper and we will say so.
- If you want the gas connected by whoever is fitting the units, and they are not Gas Safe registered, that is illegal rather than a shortcut. We will not do it and nor should anyone else.
- If you want the job finished in three days with a stone worktop, the templating and fabrication gap makes that impossible. We would rather decline than promise it.
- If you want the cheapest possible fit, we are not it. Scribing, levelling and proper service work are where the cost is and they are also where the quality is.
- If your plan does not fit the room, we will tell you before starting rather than discovering it on day two.

Send the plan, or let us come and measure. You get a written fixed price for a defined scope and a schedule with the worktop gap marked, and you can accept it online without a doorstep conversation.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a fitter charge to fit a kitchen?
Fitting is usually quoted against the number of units, the worktop type and how much the services move, rather than as a flat rate, because those three things account for most of the variation. A like-for-like replacement where the sink, cooker and appliances stay put is a materially different job from one where the layout changes and the plumbing, gas and electrics all move with it. We quote a fixed price against your actual plan rather than a per-unit figure that will not survive contact with your room.
How much does B&Q or Wickes charge to fit a kitchen?
The large retailers quote supply and fit as a package, with the fitting subcontracted to local trades and the retailer's margin on both parts. Their planning services and showrooms are genuinely useful, and for a straightforward kitchen the package can be decent value. The differences worth understanding are who is responsible when a worktop template is wrong, and whether the plumbing, gas and electrical work is included or is a separate booking you have to arrange. Those are the questions to ask, of them and of us.
Which company is best for kitchen fitting?
It depends on the job, and anyone claiming otherwise is selling. For a simple swap with no service moves, a good joiner is often all you need and will be cheaper than us. Where a single team earns its money is when the kitchen involves moving the sink, the cooker point or the gas supply, adding circuits, and tiling afterwards, because that is four trades and the failures happen at the handovers rather than within any one of them.
Is it difficult to fit a kitchen yourself?
The carpentry is achievable for a competent DIYer with patience and a decent level. The parts that are not, and that we would actively advise against, are the gas connection, which is legally restricted to Gas Safe registered engineers, and notifiable electrical work, which needs certifying by a registered competent person. Worktop templating and jointing is the third thing people underestimate, particularly in stone or composite, where an error is not recoverable. Fitting the units yourself and bringing trades in for those parts is a perfectly sensible middle path.
How long does a kitchen take to fit?
A week to a fortnight for most Hartlepool kitchens, depending on whether services move and what the worktop is. The point worth planning for is that a stone or composite worktop is templated after the units are in and then fabricated, which puts a real gap in the middle of the job where you have units and no worktop. You get a schedule that shows that gap rather than discovering it.
Can you fit a kitchen I have bought elsewhere?
Yes, fit-only is normal for us. What helps is letting us see the plan and the delivery before the start date, because the common problems are not quality but planning: appliance clearances, a run that assumes services can move cheaply, or missing filler and end panels that hold up the whole finish. Checking the delivery against the plan on the day it arrives is worth an hour of anybody's time.
Does hard water affect kitchen appliances here?
It affects anything that heats water, which in a kitchen means the dishwasher, the washing machine if it is in there, and any boiling-water tap. Hartlepool is a hard water area, supplied by Hartlepool Water rather than Northumbrian, and scale is the reason those appliances need descaling more often here than a few miles away. If you are specifying a boiling-water tap, the filter and scale arrangements matter more here than the brochure suggests.
